Welcome To The Practice

Caring for the people of Newport and the surrounding area since 1747, we now occupy modern, well equipped purpose-built premises, offering a range of facilities and skills in addition to maintaining the traditional values of family medicine.

We also dispense medicines from within the premises to those patients living in rural areas more than one mile from a chemist.

The surgery is open as follows:

Confidentiality

All staff working here are aware of the importance of confidentiality to the practice of medicine. We will not use or tell others any confidential information obtained in the course of consultation, for any purpose other than your clinical care. The only exceptions are (1) with the consent of the patient, eg filling in insurance forms (2) if the law requires it, eg in notifying certain illnesses (3) if there is an overriding duty to society.

Registration

To register as a patient ask at reception for details. Newly registered patients will be invited for a consultation within six months of registering.

If you wish to choose to see a particular partner for some of your medical conditions, please let the receptionist know and we will endeavour to comply. It might not always be possible and if this is the case an explanation will be offered.

Up and coming events

Building work

Building work commencing on the surgery on 8th of June. We apologise for any inconvience caused, including parking which will be restricted. We would, therefore, encourage you to walk or use public transport to get to the surgery if possible.

Partner Retiring

Dr Jane Metcalf has worked in the practice for 21 years. We would like
to take this opportunity to thank Dr Metcalf for all the hard work
she has put into Wellington Road Surgery. She will be retiring in
January and we wish her all the best in this.
We will be joined by two new Doctors. One of whom has already started:
Dr Tim Humphrey. Dr Chantelle Todd will be joining us in February.

Dr Metcalf says 'My 21 years as a GP in Newport has given me a lot of
job satisfaction. This has been due to the excellent staff I work with
and the patients of Newport. I can now look forward to enjoying
retirement as a gardener and a granny.'
